Funny, but whoever made that misspelled "Alabama."

No issue, just having a laugh.

i don't get the joke i guess...i mean a team goes undefeated and beats 6 top 25 teams and also beats more ranked teams than oklahoma and usc COMBINED that year and gets left out. The team that was chosen to play usc gets deroyed proving the system was flawed..and you think that is funny...hmmmm..why would that be funny unless you have something against auburn?

Its funny because not many teams ranked No. 3 or lower claim a championship.

Whether or not Auburn was screwed out of a title game appearance, at the end of the day they weren't ranked so as to claim a title as they did. It was silly and thus the joke.

Nothing against Auburn, just its phony Championship claim.

Um... they weren't ranked #3, they were ranked #2 (after the bowls of course). At the end of the day though, a poll is just that, a collection of people's opinions. On the actual football field, USC won 13 games, the Pac 10 Championship and the Orange Bowl. Likewise, Auburn won 13 games, the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl. Regrettably, that's all anyone can ask for because Division 1A does not crown a football national champion. End of story.

thanks james

If no organization puts you at No. 1, you don't get to claim a championship no matter the grievance.

The printing of championship gear and the parade was absolute hilarity because of that. College football fans have a right to razz the Auburn faithful a little about their bogus championship claim. Nothing serious.

what parade? some kid on a website claimed it...and to quote the bear,"if the drug store on the corner wants to claim us number one...i'll take it"

your site is a joke and so is your top 15.

i still have yet to see national championship gear printed...unless your talking about the special edition sports illustraited..which as far as i know, has no connection to the university or its fan base.
December 13, 2006 | Unregistered Commenterpatrick's crow feast
they did win the sec championship..which makes them champions. it also say "unofficial" national champs..what is your problem dude? closet bammer fan...that is the real joke.

Everything I've seen either said "Perfect Season," "Championship Season" (not "national championship," just "championship), "SEC Champions," or "Sugar Bowl Champions." I can't vouch for the rings. If they did say national champions, I can't really fault them, because I don't know how you can honestly look a player in the eye who worked so hard to win every game and tell him "Sorry, that wasn't good enough."
December 22, 2006 | Unregistered Commenterjames r.
It's dishonest, it's not about saying "that wasn't good enough", it's about were you awarded a title or did you just give yourself one.

There is no rule that says going undefeated from a major conference entitles you to a championship. People just think there is.
