"Confident Man" Followup

And the evidence continues to pour in...

This, from Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, a very successful college football coach:

Q: Is 15 days enough in the spring?

FERENTZ: I think it is plenty. I was teasing Joel Hilgenburg who was passing through the other day about the days of 20 practices in full gear at every practice. You can say wherever you want and maybe it wasn't like this everywhere, but players started drifting mentally. You would start looking at them on the field and they would look right through you about day 16 or 17 or 18, if not soon. I really like 15 days, to me that is ideal. Three days in shorts, I can live with that. You get a little bit more work done with shoulder pads on. On the other hand, it gives you a great opportunity just to teach. I think 15 days is absolutely excellent. I think with the scholarship reductions, I don't think anyone is hitting the way they used to 15 or 20 years ago. I don't think it is possible. Maybe there are some people that are, but to me, that is not smart.
