One Day...
Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 03:30PM I cannot say I know a lot about horseracing. I can, however, say that I like it. The attraction is inexplicable but firm.
The pinnacle of horseracing is without a doubt, the Triple Crown and specifically the Kentucky Derby. I have yet to attend a Derby in my young life, but in the meantime I can experience it vicariously through people like Dodgy At Best's Kanu.
Be sure and check out that link, it's a great writeup. I've had a few of those weekends before, flying into a town for a big event or football game, visiting all kinds of people, nonstop drinking and socializing... not getting an ounce of sleep and yet loving every minute of it. Mind you, you can't get any work done the next several days due to sleep exhaustion, hangover and overstimulation, but hey, it was worth it.
I apologize again for straying off-topic, but I'm still on a bit of a high from last weekend's Derby. I've been fortunate to attend Opening Day for eight (or is it nine?) straight years at one of the country's finest racetracks, and have also been to the Breeder's Cup. The Kentucky Derby is most definitely on my to-do list. Event days at the racetrack are always unbelievable experiences, so I'm more than a little amped reading Kanu's story about his weekend. Did I mention the beautiful women?
Good luck finding these two at the track if it's not 1)The Derby or 2)Opening Day at some of the country's finer tracks

Derby 133: Saturday, May 5, 2007. Make it happen my man. You will love it.
Now that I am a Cali resident, I am looking forward to getting down to Santa Anita for the SA Derby nexy spring and confirming that it is a beautiful as it appears on television. Tricky because it is always the weekend of the Masters, but I'll figure something out.
Nah, didn't go with the money horse. I'm such a sucker for the front-runner horses. Oh well.
I'll do my best to make it soon. It's like pulling hairs when I watch the TC on TV and realize that I need to experience those places, for those events.
Yeah Santa Anita's amazing. I've been to Arlington and its Emerald City green and white vibe, done Del Mar, which is a wonder, but there's something powerful about Santa Anita.
Still can't beat the hangouts nearby Del Mar, but SA's the place for a pure race experience out of the track's I've visited so far.
I'll reserve comment about Hollywood Park, haha.
