Pouring Some Water on the Ohio State Engine
Friday, May 19, 2006 at 11:03AM Spartan Bob takes a look at the effect various NFL drafts have had on the Ohio State football program.
But for a comparison of this year's draft, look no further back than 2004. Coming off of an 11-2 year, and a Fiesta Bowl win over Kansas State, the Buckeyes shipped 14 players out in the NFL draft -- three in the first round and (as with 2006) seven overall in the first three rounds.
And without all that talent, Ohio State finished 8-4 in 2004...2002, 2003, 2005 -- No first round picks. Combined record of 35-4, three BCS wins, one National Championship.
2001, 2004 -- Two or three first round picks each year, 15-9 record, no BCS games, one bowl win.
Interesting.
