Provincialism is King

ESPN has scheduled a chat with college football writer Bruce Feldman today for 1 p.m. Eastern.

Why?

Because people are inflamed.

A few days ago he penned a "I'm on the road, internet's shaky, filing with my blackberry so its not my best effort" story about the 10 best college stadiums.

Well... oops.

Feldman ignited a heated debate on Wednesday when he posted his Top 10 college football stadiums in his Insider blog. We gave you the chance to rearrange his list and include some stadiums he left off and over 80,000 of you responded

Talk of obscure NCAA rules with a potential for abuse? No big response.  Writing about the usual offseason news?  Yawn.  Make your own list of the best stadiums/conferences and a bunch of you get all inflamed.

I love college football.  Mind you its fans can get in the way of legitimate discussion if their hometown team or its foes are threatened.

I think its great. People who only want to talk about NCAA regulations are treating the sport like its a business and could just as easily be writing about the stock market. The only thing most fans care about are their own teams and the associations with their teams. When you boil it all down, its a spectator sport, so have fun with it.
