Reliable Sources

Notes on yesterday's action from some of the best:

---HP takes Central Michigan's coach to task for his strange gamecalling.  So did MGoBlog's Brian Cook, blogging at AOL's College Football blog.  That was a verrrrrrry interesting game, I'll have more on that later.

---Gunslingers has the [Thursday version] ESPN GameDay Recap [link corrected, sorry -Ed].  This is an absolute community service.  I should do an entry soon about GameDay.  In brief: I enjoy the show, not all that cynical about it, OMG FOOTBALL.  BTW I just sent Brian a royalty check for borrowing his style.  And an apology.

---ESPN's ($) Bruce Feldman didn't like ASU's efforts against Northern Arizona, praises South Carolina frosh QB Chris Smelley and notes the surprise performance of San Diego State backup quarterback Darren Mougey.

---Moment of Levity: while watching the South Carolina/Mississippi State game last night, my friend Vicki texted me the following---"one guy named Smelly and one guy named Succup in this game I'm watching.  Too weird for me".  She didn't like the preponderance of cowbells in the MSU crowd, either.  But that's Vicki.

The trick play-call at the end of the BC-Central Michigan was horrible. I cannot believe a coach would call such a laughable play with the game on the line. Could have been a huge upset on the national landscape and a huge upset for the CMU program.

I'm not sure what to make of Arizona State. I wonder if yesterday's struggle was some sort of hangover from the Keller/Carpenter affair.

Agree re: BC/CMU. Altho I have a slightly different take about the potential upset.

ASU will have better days, they got things done when things got tight at the end. I'm worried, but we have to wait them out to bit, they'll show us pretty quick whether they'll sink or swim.

BTW added your blog to my list, will mention it in the next round of "New Blogs" and add it to the Blog Links.
