They both took over medicore to untalented losers. Bear was in a worse situation after "Ears"...Dinardo could recruit a little.
Saban inherits a very, very talented team. DJ Hall and KB need to be disciplined a bit, but them and Stvoer along with Oakley are great. Stover and Oakley were RSFR and JUCOSoph(?) this year...Stover signed out of Mississippi in 2004 spent 2 years 04'-05' jucoing.
Bama has got the 3 best players out of Mississippi 3 straight years, Stover was a great receiver coming out of HS, Johns and Woodall were Players of the year in Mississippi in 2004(JJ) and 2005(JW-18 Ints)...
AS, Stadler, Ross, Hall, Brown, Oakley, Stover, Upchurch, Castille, Gilberry, Hall, Coger...etc.
The new defensive starters were young, and everyone knows Saban is going to whip their butts(which is what they need) into shape, he also needs to and will teach them to be physical at the point of attack and cover people out of the backfield.
Ryans won DROY, and Anderson finished second, Harper who had his ACL tear would have been 3rd in the voting....if he had made it through the season, the Saints defense was bettter with him, 30-40 yards and 3 points better. Plus a few more TO's...He freed up by his excellent coverage and great run support Bullocks to be a force and Peyton to bring more pressure.
Bama has had some great defensive talent...don't question that.
But that was because Shulaball wasn't running the defense, he was unfortunately calling plays, making personnel decisions, Capps, KD over Johns, Cardwell at C instead of RT, jumbo package, horrific predictability, no discipline, average player development, n very fundamentally sound, cowardice on 4th 1, bad play calls, screwing up, idiotic decisions that boggle the mind and show no in depth decision making, where forward think ing takes plays o help the process(He should have run/passed for a few ayrds against barn on 3rd down, if he was going for i on 4th down, instead 3 long incomplete passses to on downs)
Plus he had few frmations, and missused talent badly, JJ should ahve bene the power runner, not gimpy, slow, not as strong, and definitely not as agile Tim Castille, KD was a juking outside runner, he had no power, he was allowed to gain 10-15 pounds and get fat int he off season to "impress" the NFL scouts, he lsot all mobility, slipping up, not in anyway and inside runner, and Shulaball called 75-85% of his runs A gap STUFFS were he ahd no hole because the defenses knew it was coming and acted accordingly, KD danced in the backfield for -1 and no gainers all year long, when had a hole he danced in it for a gain of 1.
We are reportedly gfoing after Paul petrino, who is now free because of Bobby's going to the NFL, Sarkisian or Kiffin, Aplewhite, or Tom Clements.
All of these guys are 10-20 times better than Shulaball.
I'm frickin estatic.
But Saban will run some players off, which is intrestingly enough, what Bear did....hehe
