Prediction Fell Flat

Congratulations to the Gators!

But uh, what are we supposed to do with ourselves these next eight or nine months?  Please please please don't say we're going to be discussing OMG SEC speeeddddd, heh.  We all have quite a few hands we can play here, but that one's just too flimsy to start out with.  Maybe I'll listen in ohhh May?  But not now.

I have this pressing need to slash my bloated email inbox, so that's of the utmost priority at the moment.  Other concerns including tending to the links here and other administrative matters.  Lots to do in other words but now's a great time to offer feedback.

SEC hatin' to the bitter end. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Maybe by ohhh May you will have explained away the Florida championship and will be trying to convince us again that the SEC is overrated. The Big 10 and PAC 10 are where real football is played, after all.

Not to make a judgment on conferences one way or another (just like the polls, it's an opinion that's nearly impossible to prove), but there was one amusing number: despite Florida's win, the Big Ten was 2-1 against the SEC in bowl games (Wisconsin over Arkansas, Penn State over Tennessee).

What does that mean? Well, it means about as much as all the other numbers that will be thrown around.

Florida's offense won because the OSU defensive game plan was one of the worst things I've ever seen. I can get behind the idea of playing zone against a spread team and keeping things in front of you, trying to negate reverses and other trickery. However, when you put your LBs 8 yards off the line and their first steps are backward, you are begging to get picked apart. Pitiful OSU. Everyone in the SEC showed you that if you pressure Leak, he won't beat you. Wake up.

That said, Florida won this game with defense, like they have all year. That D might force you to say, you know what, those SEC guys are faaaassstttt. It looked like Troy Smith ran about a 4.9 40 last night. I know Ginn was out, but I think that just makes it more obvious: the speed on SEC D's is hard to manage if you aren't, um, familiar with it. I'm with Reggie Nelson here, with that kind of speed, Ginn should've been playing in the SEC anyway. Ha!

Man I really hate Florida.

Ohio State linebackers and defensive ends are not fast enough to play defense against the SEC offenses. Compare the Florida, LSU or Auburn DE'& LB's to tOSU LB's and DE's....no comparison....the three SEC teams all have a front seven that can catch Troy smith and throw him into the ground....tOSu has a front seven that is too slow to effectively drop into pass coverage and too slow top put big time pressure on aQB....Auburn beat Florida without any offensive touchdowns...watch the game tape...auburn had guys faster than floridas defenders...on the flip side auburns's defense wasn't strong enough to stop the run up the middle in many games this year....tOSU wouldn't normally have that problem with there 240 pound LB's however, you'll see what we mean now when we say UM and tOSU and USC couldn't make it through a top notch conference (SEC) unscathed....AUBURN got screwed in 2004 and michigan didn't belong in the top 5 much less the championship game....only completely football ignorant yankees and surfers thought otherwise.....Troy smith and Ted Ginn, JD Booty, B Quinn would have been injured halfway through the season if they had a SEC schedule.

lsu wasn't even the 3rd best team in the sec and punked notre dame.
