ESPN College GameDay Update: Week Eight

With the annual USC/Notre Dame battle looking subpar this year, I like GameDay's pick here in going to Lexington for the Florida/Kentucky game.

Florida's slim national title hopes die if they lose here, and Kentucky has to prove they're the team that beat LSU and not the one that flopped against South Carolina.

You honestly think a two loss Florida still has a shot at the MNC this year? Dang - how many more upsets do we have left in the bag?

Why not?

Both losses were narrow and fairly excusable, and given that voters rightly gerrymandered last year's final ballot to put Florida over Michigan ...

If Florida's hanging around and it's a choice between them and the Boston College/South Florida types of the world, they might sneak in.

If KY wins, do they find themselves in the national title mix? I think they would deserve to leap LSU for sure.

Maybe. I mean we'll have to see how they do it, what they're doing, etc.

The South Carolina game was really disconcerting. They gotta keep doing things to erase the memory of that or at least put a seed in peoples' minds that it was a fluke and not indicative of whatever.

Miami (FL) vs. FSU not anywhere near the national map either. Amazing.
