ESPN College GameDay Update: Week Five

ESPN College GameDay will make a rare trip out west to Eugene, Oregon on Saturday ahead of the Cal/Oregon game.

Yes, Virginia, there's football played west of the Mississippi, west of the Rockies, and north of Los Angeles.

It's their only justifiable chance to go out there besides USC-Cal, and it's possibly a make-up trip for skipping Tennessee at Cal for Virginia Tech's home opener. They can't go out there for all of USC's big games (like Oregon or possibly Arizona State too) just like they can't camp out in Baton Rouge for all of LSU's big home games.

Any predictions out there on where they'll be for the rest of the season? I'm thinking...

Oct 6 = Texas/Oklahoma or Florida/LSU
Oct 13 = Penn State/Wisconsin
Oct 27 = Rutgers/West Virginia

There was a good prediction thing at Georgia Sports Blog in the preseason, I'll see if I can find it as they had a good bead on where GameDay would likely be each weekend.

The 6th is interesting. I think they've done enough Red River Rivalry games of late (I think they went in 2005?) that they might end up doing Florida/LSU.

GatorDave, you don't think they'll go to USC/UCLA?

I realize it's on Championship weekend, but just to be at the scene of a very bitter (right now) rivalry has to be tempting for them. I gotta believe that's a slam-dunk.

Beats the hell out of whatever the ACC will assemble, the Big 12 title game could be a snooze with the North crapping out again and unless the SEC rematches Florida/LSU, I just don't know if they'll want to be in Atlanta.

Also, Gameday in LA for SC - UCLA favored by earlier (not 5 pm pacific) start time for game
