From This Line We Shall Not Pass

He may not be adept at getting his conference into quality bowl matchups, but Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen suddenly is showing some serious backbone when it comes to playoff talk:

Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen, who supports bowl games and opposes a playoff system, told Sporting News Thursday his league will walk away from the BCS if the plus-one playoff model becomes a reality. [snip]

"Our presidents have no interest whatsoever in a plus-one model -- none," Hansen says. "It's a little annoying that my colleagues continue to float this idea as though it has merit. If they continue to push it, and try to push us into a corner ... "

Will the Pac-10 walk away from the BCS?

"Yes, no question."

Them's fighting words.

Sounds like he may be in the Rose Bowl's pocket?

Why doesn't this idea have merit?

He doesn't have the power or backbone to walk away from the BCS so,the answer is no.

I highly doubt he's in the Rose Bowl's pocket. You're better than that Dawgy.

Playoffs suck. Maybe it will take having one to make people realize it. CFB is great cause it's not the NFL. A +1 will help no one. What if there's only one undefeated team that season, or even worse three/four one loss teams, or even worse still one undefeated, one one loss and a bunch of 2 loss teams. What happens then? Maybe the best thing would be to just get rid of the BCS altogether. Go back to he way it was. Pac10-Big11 in the RB etc.

It's official, the PAC-10 is really scared of the SEC. The PAC-10 says "if we have to play you guys then we quit!"

Yeh, somehow I don't think that's what they're thinking Gabe.
