Saturday Live Thread: Week Eight
Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 01:00AM I just finished plotting my slate of televised games and this Saturday is going to be something special. Simply put, it looks like the best weekend of football so far this year - on paper.
I realize USC - Notre Dame and Miami - FSU are both not the star-studded affairs we're used to, but the magic is always there. There's real intrigue to a game like Texas Tech - Missouri, not to mention the massive rivalry that is Tennessee - Alabama.
And how can we forget Florida - Kentucky and LSU - Auburn? See where I'm going.
Today is special. Enjoy it. No upsets are needed at least this weekend as the storyline is plain old good football.

The grass was long last week against B.C. but it looks like they won't pull the same stunt as from 2005 against USC again.
I know SC is not playing great now but compared to ND they are a MNC team and who cares about those green jerseys. Let get it on....
SEC fans "get it" because there's parity in their league? Uh, that's a new feature this year. Talk to the Pac-10 which has had parity forever, where conference favorites can actually lose at home.
Now they're doing this "most physical" thing. Oy...

30 career TD receptions for James Hardy.
Penn State defense playing it soft early, two third down conversion passes by Kellen Lewis, great early completion to Hardy through coverage by King.
Didn't realize the Big Bell is now in the business of starting colleges.
Reminds me of USC tight end Fred Davis who has just blown up this year, guy was an immovable object for three years then suddenly he starts moving his feet and now both guys are completely different players.
Bama 10, Tenn 7 with 4:00 left in the 1Q. Great game so far.
